Westgarth Auto Services

Website and print for an MOT and repairs garage in Dalgety Bay, Fife. Brief was short and simple. Modern website refresh and signage design to match.

The problem

An MOT and repairs garage in Fife had a dated website and signage that didn't help anyone find reception.

What I made

A refreshed, coded site and a matching shopfront treatment — the brand carried off-screen and onto the building.

What made it hard

A short brief, a small business, and the real work sitting where most web projects stop.

The brief Short and simple: modern website refresh, and signage to match
Two surfaces The site is one touchpoint; the sign is the one that actually brings customers in
Findability Local search presence, and getting a customer from the pavement to reception quickly
Delivery Production files prepared and the install overseen on site, not handed over as artwork

The turn

The sign is the bigger touchpoint

For a garage on a road in Dalgety Bay, the website is not where most customers start — the building is. So the identity was designed to survive the move off-screen, and the shopfront treatment was drawn, produced and installed rather than left as a file for somebody else to interpret. Getting someone from the pavement to reception without having to ask is the job the sign does and the site cannot.

Live and trading. Local search presence established.

Signage Design & Installation

Brand carried off-screen and onto the building. Designed the shopfront treatment, prepared production files, and oversaw the install on-site. The site is one touchpoint; the sign is the one that brings customers in and helps them get to reception quckly and easily.

Where it landed

Live and trading at westgarthautoservices.co.uk, with local search presence established. Website design and build — opening times, services, booking prompt, contact — plus signage and wayfinding designed to match, produced and installed.

What it unblocked

Site and signage came out of one system, so the garage reads the same on a phone and on the building. The next print job — a service card, a price board, a second sign — has a set of rules to follow rather than a guess to make.
